Theft update
We got hit.
The crooks cut the locks off of 25 units, and they knew what they were looking for. Mostly electronics. And they weren't shy about destroying things to make it all the way through each unit. Boxes of stuff were open, some of it dumped, and some of it gone.
A small stereo, gone.
I was surprised they left the TV, but then remembered that since the switch to digital, the old analog TV is just a heavy piece of junk.
Some antiques that belonged to Kai were broken, and drawers from my plastic art cabinets were pulled out and smashed. Silverware all over the floor, boxes upended and empty, tools missing.
They walked across the boxes to get to the back, so there's no telling how much stuff was damaged beyond what we could see. We had everything in there neat and tight. Now it looks like a tornado blew through.
I was feeling more buoyant yesterday. Stuff is just stuff, after all. Today, I'm feeling a bit more down about it. Yes, it could have been worse. I was in a philosophical mood yesterday, but today I'm angry. My mood will probably roller coaster on this.
We talked to the policeman, and gave him what information we could, but it's hard to see what can be done about it. The stuff's just gone, and while I'm still not that affected by the loss of electronics, there's no replacing the irreplaceable.
